Years and years ago, just over a thousand now, the four greatest wizards of their age came together. Together to form Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which was based on their similar dreams to form a school where young magic folk could get an extensive education on the Magical Arts. These four great wizards were Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. They built their castle together far out of the reach of the muggle eye, as magic folk were being persecuted by them, and had to endure much suffering during those times. Each founder also formed a house. Godric Gryffindor was a great supporter of the idea that anyone who showed a form of magic ability or potential should be invited to attend their school. Gryffindor's hat became The Sorting Hat that was bewitch to sort the students long after the founders themselves had passed. Helga Hufflepuff, founder of the Hufflepuff house at Hogwarts, formed a caring and compassionate house for students. Rowena Ravenclaw founded the Ravenclaw house where students of learning, wit and knowledge so often find their home. Salazar Slytherin was what one could call the 'black sheep' of the four. He supported the idea that only pure-blooded witches and wizards should attend their magic school. After arguing with Godric Gryffindor he left Hogwarts leaving only his Chamber of Secrets behind.
